Sleep!

So, abbey now sleeps in her room for most of the night! (after 8 hrs I change her and bring her to bed with me for a morning nap, which is another 3 hrs.) Sometimes she sleeps longer, but usually it’s about 8. I’ll take it for now!

Sometimes she just falls asleep on me when I try and change her, too!

Abbey has always slept in our room (in the pack & play) wrapped up in a swaddle blanket. The last few nights at my folks I realized I didn’t have a blanket… So, she slept in the p&p in just her jammies.

Um. Okay, she didn’t sleep, she screamed, and was in and out of the p&p and into my bed, and back and forth. This led to lots of facebooking, and tons of advice from friends. Including not to fear the crying!

On night 2 she was crying even in bed with me, so I said screw it. If you’re gonna cry anyway, cry in your own bed! 5 minutes later she was asleep and slept for 8 hrs.

2 nights ago we put Abbey in her crib, unswaddled. She screamed for about 3 minutes, then went to sleep. She whimpered a bit in the middle of the night, but I went with the pee scale: If I go pee, and she is still crying when I get back I will go get her. But, lo and behold, both times when she cried and I went to pee, she was back to sleep before I was done!

Last night I put her down, and she passed right out. My guess was that she was really already asleep when I put her down, and would wake up startled in an unfamiliar place. Nope. Not a peep out of her for 10 hours, and then she woke up and chattered. I was going to go get her but Fred said wait because she might go back to sleep. Yep, back to sleep for another 45 minutes or so.

It’s a great time up here in Wolfeboro with Grandma!! Abs doesn’t even have to wear clothes!!!

Abs is sure sleeping a lot, but not when I need her to in order to unpack!!! Her naps are just long enough for me to get something started, but not enough to finish…

Counterproductivity?

Getting anything done is way difficult when trying to wrangle the Abba. She seems to be okay for other people but as soon as I try and get something unpacked she is screaming her head off… You’re not making mommy look good, kid!

I now seem to have something resembling a sinus infection which is AWESOME since I have ny first client since before Abs tomorrow afternoon. I am confident that once my stress level chills a bit my nose will recover and my aeching head will stop throbbing… The fantabulous Kelly Coffey will be coming by to Abbey wrangle so I can work. My friends amaze me, they really do.

So the real question is… Could it be time to stop swaddling Abs and maybe put her in a crib? Uh, ya think?

It feels like a week ago that we were headlong into moving. Fred is off all week to finish up the move, but we are mostly done. Unpacking boxes that we packed up 2 years ago before we started moving is very strange, but we have finally found a home for all of our bath toys: Abbey’s bathroom!

Here are a few photos of the new surroundings. I think we’re gonna like it here.
